A Culinary journey of Punjab by Ananta at Oberoi Dubai that showcased the heritage, tradition, colors and flavors of Punjab.
Last week we enjoyed an exquisite food experience at Punjab Meet Dubai food festival at Ananta by Guest Master Chef Parvinder Bali who is pioneer in cooking practices and knowledge. He owns 3 volumes of culinary books and is known for his authentic food. The evening also featured a live cooking class by Parivinder Bali that showcased his unique cooking style while he prepared few of his signature dishes for us.
Our Punjabi feast started off with an appetizer platter comprising of Tandoori Chaampan (marinated lamb chops roasted in tandoor), Sarson wala Jhinga (Prawns marinated in homemade mustard sauce and cooked in tandoor) and Batti da kukkad. My absolute favorite from the menu was Batti da Kukkad which is roasted char-grilled chicken that was marinated in a special marinate with batti masala. It tasted delectable with snaps of authentic flavors.
Moving on to our main course that was served as a beautiful Punjabi thali consisting of lusciously rich Chicken butter masala, succulent and juicy Rahdya meat (lamb dish), Methi wala khadhai Jhinga (lobster dish), Maan Sabat and Biriyani. Everything had an exquisite flavor and tasted decadently delicious. My absolute favorite from the thali was Chicken butter masala which is undoubtedly the best butter chicken I have had! I also loved the Maan Sabat that’s basically a lentils curry! One of the best version of famous Indian lentil curry.
Our lavish feast ended with a beautiful Punjabi dessert platter comprising of Badaam da halwa, Pista Kulfi and Kesari phirnee! Phirnee has won our palate completely , it was nothing like I ever tried before with it’s rich consistency.
